The full arithmetic, including the part that looks bad

The travel sheet is 5.9 × 7.8 in. The standard sheet is 7.8 × 9.8 in. That is about 60% of the area, which means that on a per-square-inch basis this pack costs roughly two and a half times what the 60-count does. We would rather print that than let you find it after the fact.
What you are buying is the format. A flat pack that fits in a door pocket, a jacket, or the bag that holds the leash — so the wipes are actually with you when the mud is, instead of sitting in a cupboard at home doing nothing. Small packs also genuinely cost more to make and fill per unit; nothing here was cheapened to hit $9.99.

It returned no toxic effects and no mortality at the 2.0 g/kg limit dose, with a GHS Category 5 / Unclassified rating — the lowest hazard band on the scale.

Being straight about scope: that's an ingestion study, not a skin study. It tells you what happens if your dog licks his paws afterward, and we don't dress it up as more than it is.

Why we chose this preservative — and why we tell you the number

Every wet wipe needs a preservative. A pack of water-based wipes you open fifty times over a month will grow mold and bacteria without one, and that is the real risk to your pet — not the preservative.
The easy marketing move is a botanical "natural preservative system." We looked hard at that route and passed. Plant-derived preservatives and botanical fragrance actives are among the most common causes of contact allergy in topical products, which is why the fragrance industry runs dedicated repeat-insult patch testing programs on them.
Natural and non-irritating are not the same word.
So we use benzalkonium chloride at 0.08%. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review has assessed benzalkonium chloride as safe in personal-care products at concentrations up to 0.1%, and 0.08% sits inside both that limit and the standard range used across the wet-wipe industry. That's the number. We'd rather you have it than a reassurance.
It is there to keep the wipes fresh in the pack, and nothing else. These are grooming wipes, not a sanitizer, and we make no germ-killing claims for your pet.
This matters a little more on a pack that lives in a hot car than on one that lives in a cupboard. A warm glovebox is a good home for mold, and it is also exactly where a competitor would be tempted to print "antibacterial" on the lid. We don't.

The whole trick is having the pack with you, which is why there are only twenty in it and why it fits where it does.

Are these the same size as the wipes in the 60-count?
No, and we would rather be straight about it. The travel sheet is 5.9 × 7.8 in against 7.8 × 9.8 in in the 60-count — about 60% of the area. The formula, the saturation, and the thickness are identical; the sheet is smaller so the pack can lie flat in a glovebox. It is plenty for four paws and a belly. It is not the wipe you want for drying a whole soaked dog.
Why is it more per wipe than the 60-count?
Small packs cost more to make and fill per unit. Is it safe if my dog licks his paws afterward?
That's the exact question the toxicity test answers. Acute oral toxicity testing at SGS Shanghai under OECD 420 returned no toxic effects at the 2.0 g/kg limit dose and a GHS Category 5 / Unclassified rating. Report No. SHCPCH24001149-01.
Will the pack dry out in a hot car?
Not if you reseal it. The preservative and the seal are both there for exactly this. If a pack ever arrives dry or goes dry on you, we'll refund it in full and you don't have to ship anything back.
Is this the same formula as the 60-count?
Yes — the same six ingredients at the same percentages, the same pH 7.0, and the same SGS report. Nothing was reformulated or diluted to hit a lower price. What changes is the sheet size and the count, not the liquid.
Can I use these on my cat?
We'd rather you didn't. This formula contains a trace of lavender oil, and cats lack much of the liver pathway that clears essential-oil compounds. We make a separate cat wipe with no essential oils at all for exactly that reason.
